I am investing in the future of Centralia and the advancement of our community’s economy. Voting for me will bring transparency, accountability, and unity.
Restoring a sense of pride and trust.

Timeline for Self-sufficiency
When the Port was established, the goal was for it to one day be self-sufficient. Unfortunately, nearly 40 years later the taxpayers of Centralia are still being asked to give their hard-earned money for Port projects. As commissioner I will begin strategic planning goals and create a timeline for when the Port will reach Self-sufficiency.
-
Transparency
The Port has a bad reputation right now. There are many citizens that are frustrated with the lack of government transparency that they are used to receiving from other municipalities. I have a proven track record of being an advocate for government transparency. As commissioner I will work tirelessly to repair the public’s trust through implementing transparency policies.

Strategic Planning
The Port Commissioners have an obligation to create strategic planning goals. However, this is not currently happening. Without clearly outlined goals and long-term planning we will continue to waste public funds and have a reactive business model rather than proactive.

Honoring Our Historic Charm
Centralia is a historic town, and the Port needs to contribute to the charm and prosperity of our existing infrastructure. Centralia Station is a wonderful asset and now it’s time to strike a balance for businesses that are already here. As commissioner I hope to set goals of purchasing and developing abandoned properties that are dilapidated and bringing down the quality of our entire community.
By supporting the development of problematic buildings in the heart of town that have been empty for years, we can create a more welcoming town for all. It’s been wonderful for the Port to work on large scale projects but we also need to balance that with smaller community building developments.

Increase Public Voice
The citizens of Centralia have a culture of being civically involved. However, the Port has very little opportunity for them to have meaningful engagement. As Commissioner I will propose we move the board meeting time to after work hours when more people are available to attend. I will also be an advocate for a citizens advisory committee. These things have already been requested by the citizens, and I see no reason we cannot fulfill this request.

Financial Responsibility
Due to a lack of transparency there are no clear answers on how the Port is managing financially. This leads to speculations and rumors about misappropriation of funds. As commissioner I will fight to implement financial responsible business practices that are made public. The Port needs to provide detailed budgets and spending reports to demonstrate proper financial management. This is another key measure that will restore public trust.
